America!
« on: August 23, 2010, 05:00:05 PM »
This thread serves as a welcome to American readers and those of other countries, having read The Towers of Romander (or planning to).
The Zumaya Otherworlds publication of my first Unmagician novel is a fact. From 16th August on the novel can be obtained, a.o. through Amazon.com .
Please leave a message when you have someting to say about it. I will respond!

That cover illustration is... interesting... most of that publishers covers are.

It is, but of a very low quality.

What I don't get -but maybe that's just how it goes- is why they can't use the same cover as the Dutch version.

That's because Dutchmen and Americans are liek totally different targets. They have different tastes (e.g. Americans like everything BIG), and expectations. This is usually location/culture-related. I think.

It also depends on what kind of publisher it is, I think this one is an independent one, without a big conglomerate behind it.

Not sure if they still do that, but a lot of US paperback fantasy-novels tend to have the authors name embossed.

I secretly think, that the author likes to have, all these different covers on his bookshelf.  ;D

Is it me or does it look like Amazon made up a image their selves (they did that in the past often enough).
It just looks fake to me... while it mostlikely is the real image.

It's the publisher, most of their books have odd 3D-rendered covers: http://www.zumayapublications.com/otherworlds/

Maybe publishing such a great book has thrown their schedules off. :P

You know... everybody knows they should not judge a book by the cover... but sadly most people do... so it really sucks that the American cover is this bad

I don't think it's bad. I find it a bit mysterious.
Nice to read the preview.
